About Kevin

Hi all, my name is Kevin Leneway.  I’m a co-founder of Giant Thinkwell, a new socially-aware social gaming startup.  I love writing simple, useful little pieces of software and have a passion for anything around startups and the Web 2.0 movement.  This blog is an outlet for any random idea I have around new startup companies.  Yes, most of these ideas suck, but it’s fun to kick some ideas around and hopefully meet some interesting new people in the process.  Feel free to email me directly at kevin@giantthinkwell.com, or follow me on Twitter at @kleneway.

  1. Very cool Kevin. I once spent some time working at Microsoft PAG (Progressive Architecture Group).

Very cool campus in Redmond, and a very fun place to work.

Great blog. Keep up the good posts.

  2. PS I am about to add you as a community member to our blog. Thank you for adding us to your blogroll.

  3. Thanks, man, dig the link love! It’s been a fun experiment trying to build my readership numbers, this should help a lot. That’s cool that you used to be a Microsoftie. Seattle is definitely a sweet town, let me know if the CH team is ever coming to town, would be fun to have a Seattle meet up.

  4. Hey Kevin,

Saw that you stopped by our site. Thanks for the visit, brother. Like yourself, I’m a big fan of those Vikings over at CH, and I’ve been pretty active with Steve over at TS’s.com.

Going to peruse your stuff this morning, and see what you’re thinking. Hope to get you back to hang with us from time to time. We’re looking for those who dare to Boldly Go!

  5. Thanks for the comments, James. Being new to blogging, I’m quickly learning about the crack-like addiction to checking feed stats and comment counts. I dig the stuff going on over at your BG blog, good to get a new feed to add to the ol’ reader.

  6. Kevin – good stuff bro. The addiction is oddly crack -like isn’t it? I like a lot of your ideas and am glad to keep finding more and more creative business minded individuals. Added your blog to my reader, and I’d love your thoughts on any of my articles. Keep it up my friend.

  7. Kevin, I’ve noticed, you reply with very nerdy responses…. but all the same, i loooove your ideas!! You’re brilliant! Out of all the years I’ve known you, I’ve never noticed how many great ideas you have!!

  9. Hey…I like the site. It’s cool to know there’s more people out there interested in start-ups. I’m a student in Seattle (at UW) actually doing a project for one of the start-ups around town. You’re sites been really helpful (and interesting) for me to look through…

    Thanks!

  10. Kevin, I love your ideas. Keep them coming.

I am pretty new to blogging, so I love learning new techniques and ideas. Any suggestions for mine?? The link is on my index page.

Thanks bunches, and Have a Blessed Day.

    Bobbi

  11. Thanks Bobbie, appreciate the kind words.

I checked out your blog, definitely a good start! I’m really in no position to give out blogging advice, but since you asked I’ll offer a few general suggestions that have worked well for me over the past few months.

    1. Be passionate about what you are writing about. Although it can feel like it at times, blogging should not be a chore, it should be something that you do because you love it.

    2. Blog as often as you can. I try to do at least one post a day. The most successful bloggers will post multiple items each day.

    3. Keep the posts fairly short, be sure to break up long text blocks with paragraphs, and add graphics whereever you can (flickr is a great place to find good photos for any topic).

    4. Read a ton of blogs and comment on them as much as you can. Most bloggers love comments and often will return the favor by visiting your site or even posting a link if it’s relevant to what they’re blogging about.

    5. Don’t worry too much about building an audience. Take some time and find your voice, and if you are writing good content, eventually people will come. It’s very difficult and can be discouraging, though. Just remember that you are (or should be) blogging for yourself first and your audience second.

Hope that helps, best of luck!
